At The Studio: Your Brand Of Beautiful Podcast

A little while back, we had the pleasure of hosting Bailie White of her Your Brand of Beautiful podcast at the studio! While she was there to record a session, we were able to catch up with her and ask a few questions about her journey with podcasting…

Tell us a bit about your podcast- what got you started?

I created the Your Brand of Beautiful Podcast as a passion project and a way to grow my public speaking venture! Not only did I want to create a platform for people to find me or learn more about my speaking services — but I also wanted to create a space for past audience members to go after they’ve heard me speak, too.

If someone in any audience I spoke to wanted more of my story, or to hear other women’s stories, I wanted to have a ton of content they could easily access! So that’s why I make sure all of my guests are women who have created their own version of a beautiful life, and can share their story in a way that not only inspires others to do the same, but gives them some tangible advice for how to do it, too.

For someone who is just starting or thinking about starting their small business, what advice would you give them?

I think there’s a reason why, no matter who you ask this question to, the answer is almost always “just go for it!” — and that’s because it’s true!

99.9% of the time, you can dream and plan all you want, but if you don’t take the first step, you’ll never get anywhere. My best advice is to have a very clear action plan of starting your small business.

I lead a goal setting workshop where I get into the insane nitty-gritty of making a plan for your goals, but to sum it up, you just need a to-do list, a timeline, and to hold yourself accountable to both. Oh, and don’t quit before the magic happens!

What does creativity mean to you?

Creativity is something that’s innate in everyone. You’ve never met a kid who wasn’t creative, right? But somewhere along the way, some people stop tapping into creativity. Why do we do that? I think if you can have a creative outlet of any kind or size, you’re 10 times out of 10 better off for it.

Your podcast focuses a lot on community. What have you learned about community throughout the course of your career?

I think through the course of my entrepreneurial journey, ‘community’ has remained such a buzzword. 'Building community, cultivating community, growing your community, serving your community'… you hear the word so often that it can start to lose its meaning!

But when you take the trendiness away from the connotation, community is timeless. We all need community — and we need it offline especially. We were made for community!

So I’ve learned to take the pressure off of the word, and instead, lean into the organic growth of community that’s all around me. Whether that’s in my real life (my church, neighborhood, or with family friends) or my professional life (the people I’ve genuinely bonded with through podcasting and speaking) — I try to pour into it without expecting anything in return. And that’s when community gets really, really beautiful.

What led you to wonderland?

Brandy actually found Wonderland as an option for where we could record our podcast together in person, and when I saw the photos I immediately fell in love with it!

When I actually experienced the place in real life, things got even better! The team at Wonderland made us feel so welcome and taken care of, and immediately I felt at home in the space. The feeling of comfort in an environment where you’re being vulnerable or creative is priceless — and I think that’s got to be the secret sauce at Wonderland!

A big thank-you to Bailie for answering all of our questions and for enjoying an afternoon at the studio with us! <3
